TRAVEL DIARY

Let’s start with a few words from the founding members of SPAC!

S

Space is generated through collective action, not only human. Space is not an abstraction, dimensional or of place, but a quality that emerges from the socio-material movement of territorialised bodies, i.e. bodies pertaining to a specific area. In this sense, it cannot be circumscribed and behaves like a sort of atmospheric phenomenon: fluid, mobile, changeable and in epidermal contact with all the presences that coexist and interact in a given area.

P

Popular like popcorn. Something that comes from below, from what is simple, not understood as superfluous but as basic. Basic, at the root of what nourishes us without too many frills. Popular that speaks and embraces everyone with a genuine gaze, a sincere embrace, a supportive bite.

A

Learning as part of wonder. It is a relationship with the world and with the inanimate beings, plants, animals or humans that compose it. It is a relationship with something that is already there and that often only needs to be discovered, lived, experienced. It is essential to try to take a step back from the capitalist mode that makes us think that learning is related to something that is in itself scarce and that we must necessarily extract or purchase it from something or someone. When we learn, we do not invent anything new, we collect and organise what is already there, available to us. Unleashing our autonomous capacity to learn, focusing on doing and reflecting – on a personal and collective level – is one of the most important challenges we face today.

C

Collective because collective learning becomes a political process. We grow and get to know each other by being part of a collective, exchanging and comparing ideas, discussing and building practices and knowledge together. Collective because together we want to contribute to a radical transformation of society, decolonisation and liberation.
